ARRL Field Day 2020

Jun 27, 2020 - Jun 28, 2020

Field Day 2020 is June 27-28, 2020
The objective of Field Day is to work as many stations as possible on any and all amateur bands (excluding the 60, 30, 17, and 12-meter bands) and to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions. Field Day is open to all amateurs in the areas covered by the ARRL/RAC Field Organizations and countries within IARU Region 2. DX stations residing in other regions may be contacted for credit, but are not eligible to submit entries.
Field Day is always the fourth full weekend of June, beginning at 18:00 UTC Saturday and running through 20:59 UTC Sunday.

Field Day is X Number days away!

Now is a great time to start forming Field Day committees, especially Public Relations committees.
  • If you want state or local government declarations of an Amateur Radio month or week, you will want to start getting those ready for submission to the government.
    • Also, start looking at invites for elected officials.
    • For both of these, that means putting together a list of elected US, state, county, and city officials (don't forget about your Sheriff).
      • For state government declarations, work with your Section Manager.
    • Start building your club's following on social media by posting more frequently, following people, and interacting more. Common social media platforms are Facebook (obviously), Twitter, and Instagram, but don't forget about Pinterest, LinkedIn, or others. Depending on where you live, some may be more popular than others.
    • Go out to your local news media websites and start making a list of reporters and journalists. Your local TV station meteorologists are also great contacts considering the amount of weather spotting ham radio operators do -- you may even find some of them are hams.
    • Start laying out a strategy.
    • Work with your section Public Information Coordinators (PICs) and Public Information Officers (PIOs).

I will be adding to this post as I get information and photo's to post.
